02 Kinnerk Shop
Conor Kinnerk originally was from Baltard, and he came to Doonbeg to live with his sister Honor as she was a widow. Conor married Margaret Hayes (a sister of Daniel Hayes – see Point 3).
“C. Kinnerk” then became the name of the shop as you can see from the pictures and the house was single storey and thatched.
Conor was industrious, he was a thatcher by trade and also acquired salmon fishing rights for the Doonbeg Lake and one of the weirs in the Doonbeg Bay.
His wife Margaret ran the shop. Their son Martin Kinnerk continued with the salmon fishing along with Martin Purtill.
The shop closed c1940.
