04 Old Doonbeg National School
The Doonbeg National School (S.N. Dúnbeag) was established in 1879 to cater for 100 pupils.
Enrolment in the national school increased rapidly to 242 children in a few years. This necessitated the building of a girl’s school, which opened in 1888. The school was rebuilt in 1971 and closed in 2007. The national school was relocated to a new purpose-built school behind the church.
